Abstract (EN)

This study was done to determination of information and opinion of students of Gazi University about emergency contraception, sexual behaviours.Survey sample consisted of 1029 students who were enrolled in associate degree and degree of formal education programs in 2007-2008 academic year. Statistical analysis methods used for data evaluation were X² and Fisher?s Exact test and data were interpreted according to the percentage value.Of the students; % 57.4 were in 20-22 years age group, % 61.9 were female and % 98.2 were single. In our survey it was detected that % 19.1 of students were sexual experienced.It was determined that nearly half of sexually active patients had a regular sexual life. We detected that % 59.3 of sexually active students were using a contraception method. % 69.5 of these methods was condom, % 14.4 were oral contraceptive tablets.It was detected that % 28.2 of the students heard emergency contraception concept before, % 20.7 had information about emergency contraception; % 45.8 of students thought that they knew sufficient information about emergency contraception. % 62.4 of the students stated that every individual should be informed about emergency contraception. % 47.6 of the students aggreed that ?Emergency contraception prevented unwanted pregnancies and influenced public health in a positive way.Keywords: Emergency contraception, adolescent, reproductive health.
