Abstract (EN)
It should not to be forgotten that there are many positive aspects of technology as well as negative effects. In our age, societies that use the positive aspects of technology and are not affected by its negative aspects, who know how to reach the right information in digital age, and who make sure that technology does not affect the habit of reading by not losing itself to the entertainment part, are moving rapidly towards becoming an information society. In our study, in order to become an information society, we investigated how and how to utilize the elements of technology in order to reach information in the fastest and correct way, it is aimed to explain the importance of our young people to use technology. In this study, the importance of the use of digital libraries is stated in order to prevent the reading habits of our youth and the use of libraries in the digital world. Important elements of digital culture, such as e-books, e-government gateway, were determined in our country compared to the countries of the world. In the last part of our study, the relationship between technology and reading habits was examined and two scales and a survey was conducted for 9th grade students in secondary education and their results were analysed. According to the results, it is understood that there is a negative relationship between technology addiction and the habit of reading books. When analyzed by gender, it was found that female students had more reading habits than male students, but there was no significant difference between male and female students in terms of technology use. In addition, it was found in the study that female students use the internet more for educational purposes than male students, on the other hand the male students spend more time on online games than female students.
