In this study, we aim to define the prevelance of snorring and cases associated with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in high school students and possible relation of snorring and SDB with the problems such as parasomnia, headache and poor school performance that effect daily lifeThe study was performed giving questionnaire to 3800 high school students in Gaziantep and 3485 (49% male; mean±SD: 17.09±0.99 year) were evaluated. Prevalence of snorring was 12.5%; habituel snorring, 3.5%. Habitual snorring was 2.1% in females and 5% in males (p<0.001). There is no relation of snorring with smoking, socioeconomic parameters (p>0.05). Snorring was found to be significantly associated with body mass index, witnessed-apnea, forced breathing in sleep, awakening with cyanosis, mouth breathing in sleeping, difficulty in daytime nose breathing, night cough, night sweating and heartburn (p<0.001). Prevalance of daytime sleepness, Epworth score?9, mean Epworth score and enuresis nocturna was significantly higher in group of habitual snorring otherwise there is no relation of snorring with school performance or headache. Night terror, nightmare, sleep walking, sleep talking and bruksizm was higher in habitual snorring or SDB group (p<0.001Our findings suggest that snorring are related to several factors that can affect daily life of adolescents in several ways.
