Determinants of becoming a logistics hub of Gazi̇antep:An emprical study

Logistics has becoming an important term in global economics at recent years. The firms pay attention to logistics activities to have difference, reduce costs and increase competitiveness. By increasing logistics activities, the centers which has potential to be logistics centers in the world are coming into prominence. The main purpose of this thesis is researching Gaziantep's logistics potential due to its geographical location, strong industrial structure and on the way of Silkroad location. The study includes definition of logistics term, management of logistics, development of logistics sector and SWOT analysis of Turkey and Gaziantep. In the last part, there is an analysis of survey with national and international logistic firms located in Gaziantep. The outcome of the research is Gaziantep has a potential to be a logistic center in Turkey but the sector needs skilled manpower, legal regulation, professional management apprehension and the widespread use of information technology.
