The Beydili tribe in Gaziantep

Thesis, Department of Deparment of History Supervisor: Assistant Professor Dr. Fatma ÇAPAN August 2019, 155 Pages The Oghuzes are the oldest ancestors of the Turks that have existed since the oldest periods of Turkish history. Oghuzes were opened to the world from the Central Asia area where they first came to history and established many states. However, the Oghuzes were dispersed due to internal and external reasons, they had left their places or they had to leave. The Oghuz tribes who migrated in this way changed the course of history. The Beydili tribe which is one of the 24 Oghuz tribes is the subject of our thesis on migration routes and where they migrate. Most of them live in Gaziantep and Syria today. As in the past, Beydili still maintains traditional socio-cultural life today. In addition, they have effected culturally the region and also they have been influenced by other cultures in the region. In this study, migration of the Oghuz and ethnic origins was investigated. Gaziantep Beydili tribe mostly live in the villages of Gaziantep Araban in the town. We researched in the field and we talked with some people who belong to the tribe. Although some of the traditions of the tribe lost, it has been observed that many traditions have maintained. At the begining of this, there are wedding ceremonies similar tradition (wedding tradition) continves. Beydili tribe in Syria too. As tribal, Beydili of Gaziantep and Syria indicates that they are attached to common customs and traditions. Because of the history and it is close the same geographical area. Beydili tribe who live around the Gaziantep have got through residential life for along time. They deal with agriculture and trade.
