Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate anxiety, depression, self-esteem and quality of life scale scores of patients who applied to Pediatric Hematology Outpatient Clinic of Gaziantep University; These results are intended to be compared with the control group in terms of diseases, age and sex. A total of 718 patients (538 patients and 180 control groups) were included in the study. Of all participants, 326 (45.4%) were female and 392 (54.6%) were male. The mean age of the patients was 11.62 ± 2.59 years and the mean age of the control group was 11.63 ± 2.41 years. The patients were grouped under three headings for comparison. These; hematologic malignancies, anemias and bleeding and clotting disorders. Results of the patients' scales were compared between the patient groups and the control group. A significant difference was found between the patient groups and the control group in the total quality of life scale, physical health total score, psychosocial health total score and Kovacs depression scale(p<0,05). However, no significant difference was found between the patient groups and the control group in the Rosenberg Self-Esteem and Continuous Anxiety Scale results(p>0,05). Physical health total score results are lower in patients with bleeding and clotting disorders than in other groups. In the Kovacs depression scale, the mean of the control group was significantly lower than the patient groups. There was no significant difference between patient groups (p>0.05). When all participants were evaluated, no statistically significant difference was found in all scales according to gender (p> 0.05). Hemorrhage and clotting disorders were significantly different in Kovacs Depression Scale and Continuous Anxiety Scale in the disease group and were higher in girls (p <0.05). Hemorrhage and clotting disorders were significantly different in Kovacs Depression Scale and higher in girls (p = 0.006). Similarly, trait anxiety scores were significantly higher in girls (p = 0.001).The results of Rosenberg's Self-Esteem were found to be higher in hematologic malignancies with bleeding and clotting disorders. The total quality of life scale was lower in the anemia group in the 13-18 age group (p = 0.005). In the control group, there was a significant difference only in the anxiety scale in the evaluation according to 8-12 and 13-18 age groups(p=0,001). According to this, anxiety levels in the 13-18 age group are higher. As a result; pediatric hematology outpatient clinics apply very different patients. We think that the difference between quality of life, depression, anxiety and self-esteem scales will affect our approach to patients in different diagnoses and increase our success in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
