Abstract (EN)

Although it has discovered currently Human Immunodeficiency Virus has an important place among the agents of infectious diseases today. Especially the process beholding the integration to host cell DNA by some enzymatic mechanisms of the virus in particular targets CD4 T lymphocytes indicates a trend leading up the patient's death by making all the immune mechanism deficient, developing malignancy and infections. The virus has two sub-types such as HIV-1 and HIV-2 that the geographical distributions in the world of these have differences. This study was conducted to determine the distribution of sub-species of HIV isolates and to examine the epidemiological findings (transmission source, age distribution, etc.,) in HIV infections detected in Gaziantep which is one of the provinces that has frequent immigrant mobility in recent years. A total of 35 patients sent to our laboratory between March and November 2015 for HIV RNA testing and having the RNA test results of >100 copies/mL were included in the study. HIV-1 RNA test was conducted with real-time PCR by using QIAsymphony SP/Artus HIV-1 QS-RGQ Kit (QIAGEN GmbH, Germany). Since the amplified RNA sequences are not suitable for sequencing in 2 patients included in the study, sub-type analysis and phylogenetic evaluation were performed in 33 samples by sequencing. In the sequencing of HIV-1 (reverse transcriptase domain, cord 41-232) the PCR and sequencing algorithm of "The French ANRS (National Agency for AIDS Research) AC11 Resistance Group" was used. As a result of the phylogenetic analysis in order to determine the sub-types of HIV-1 22 of 33 patients (66.6%) found as sub-type B. In 7 patients (21.21%) A1 subtype was determined. In 3 patients (9.09%) CRF02_AG was determined. In 1 patient (3.03%) C subtype was determined.Since the frequent human mobility compared to the past has an affect on the distribution of infection agents, the sub-type analyzes of HIV are important for the observation of the distribution of virus.
