Abstract (EN)

In this study, the possibilities of the use of Sivas-Kangal lignite coal and wood waste obtained from the preliminary studies of Gebze MDF and Chipboard Gasification Plant as an adsorbent were investigated. In this way, it is aimed to evaluate the wastes and to prevent environmental pollution by the materials that are cheaper and easier to obtain. The structure and surface properties of wood waste and charcoal samples which were crushed and grounded to -75 microns size and used as adsorbents were investigated by XRD, SEM and BET. Samples were tried to be characterized by ultimate (ash, moisture, volatile matter and constant carbon contents) and elemental analysis. In the experiments methylene blue (C16H18CIN3S.xH2O) was used as dyestuff. Adsorption tests of methylene blue (MB) were performed by using parameters such as pH, temperature, time, mixing speed and concentration. Results showed that by using lignite coal a yield of 99.5% at pH 6.4 and by using wood waste a yield of 99.7% was obtained at pH 8.3.
