Measuring the efficency of the personnel working in the food industry by data envelopment analysis

One of the most important factors in the production of goods and services is human resources and it is effective in achieving targets such as achieving superior quality production and competitive advantage, increasing sales volume and profitability, decreasing costs and increasing motivation. In order to achieve these targets, it is essential to increase the productivity of the labor force. The human resources used to achieve the production objectives of enterprises can show how productive and effective an enterprise is, and by doing more production in less time. Therefore, necessary individual, organizational and managerial arrangements can be made by measuring the productivity of the employees in the businesses. The purpose of this study is to measure the productivity of employees by using data envelopment analysis method in a business operating in food sector after examining the factors affecting employee productivity theoretically. The working group of the study consists of 15 selected sales representatives working in a food business. According to the results of the input-oriented CCR model, 6 sales representatives were found to be effective. By using output-oriented CCR model results, target values were determined for ineffective sales representatives and suggestions were made to increase their efficiency.
