Investigation of the effect of l-mandelonitrile- βgentiobiosid used as food supplements on artificial breast cancer in rats

Abstract (EN)

Breast cancer is an important health problem in women World wide. Because the methods used in scientific medical treatment of breast cancer have a relatively low chance of successor have severe side effects due to treatment, patients may choose to use alternative medical methods. Alternative medicine is widely used in the treatment of many diseases, especially cancer, in the World to all eviate the symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients. Amygdaline, one of the cyanogenic glycosides used in defense against parasite sand herbivores, which is very common in plants, is an important chemical agent. Anti-tumor efficacy of amygdalin obtained from bitter apricot kernel has been determined in many cancer types. In this study, we aimed to investigate the protective and therapeutic effects of amygdaline on breast cancer. This study was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, amygdalin was obtained from bitter apricot kernel from the local market. The presence of amygdalin was determined by qualitative analysis by FTIR method and visualized by SEM electron microscope. In the second stage of our study, the possible effects of amygdaline in rats treated with artificial cancer were investigated. At this stage the experimental animals were divided in to two groups as protection (10 mg amygdalin) and treatment (50 mg amygdalin). These groups are also divided into different dosage-dependent groups among themselves. In the treatment group, Tamoxifen drugused in the treatment of cancer was administered to 0.05 mg subjects. Both BRCA1, BRCA2 levels and copper and zinc levels in blood were analyzed in protection groups. BRCA1 and BRCA2 maintained their levels with amygdalin administration and a slight increase in relative to control was analyzed. In addition, the protection group showed an increase in copper levels in the blood when compared to the control, while the zinc levels did not decrease significantly in cancer cells. In the treatment groups, BRCA1 and BRCA2 levels increased as in tamoxifen values used in the treatment of breast cancer compared to the control groups. Both amygdalin A, B and tamoxifen treated groups were found to have higher BRCA2 level than BRCA1. The results of this study suggest that amygdalin can be used as an effective agent in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
