The comparison of orthorexia nervosa, eating attitudes and anxiety situations of pregnant and non-pregnant women

This study was planned and conducted to compare the healthy eating obsession, eating disorders and anxiety status of pregnant and non-pregnant women. A total of 293 adult volunteers, 131 pregnant women and 162 non-pregnant women, aged between 20-45 participated in this study. General information, pregnancy information, nutrition and exercise status about individuals were obtained through a questionnaire. In addition, ORTO-15, Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were applied. Of the individuals participating in the study, 44.7% were pregnant and 55.3% were non-pregnant women. While the mean age of pregnant women is 29.23±5.52 years and the mean age of non-pregnant women is 27.54±5.77 years. While the bulimic behavior subscale and EAT-26 total score were higher in non-pregnant women, the BAI total score was higher in pregnant women, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of ORTO-15 total score. In 64.1% of pregnant women and 57.4% of non-pregnant women, there is no disorder in eating attitude. In 76.3% of pregnant women and 82.1% of non-pregnant women are in the orthorexic group. While there is no statistically significant difference between Beck Anxiety groups of non-pregnant women, there is a significant difference between Beck Anxiety Inventory scores among pregnant women. According to the results of the study, as the tendency to eating disorders increases, the level of anxiety also increases. Eating attitude disorder in non-pregnant women and anxiety levels of pregnant women are higher.
