The effect of nursing care provided through the mobile health application for pregnant women based on the roy's adaptation model on postpartum adaptation

This study was a single-center, parallel-group randomized controlled experimental study conducted to determine the effect of nursing care provided through the mobile health application based on Roy's Adaptation Model for pregnant women on postpartum adaptation. The sample consisted of 62 women totally, 31 of whom were in the experimental group, 31 of whom were in the control group. Within the scope of the research, a mobile application called " Preparing for Motherhood " was developed, based on the Roy Adaptation Model, which contains information and videos about pregnancy, birth and postpartum processes, sharing experience and asking questions to the expert. In addition to the routine care given in the hospital, the women in the experimental group used the mobile health application from the 32nd-34th week of pregnancy until the postpartum sixth week. The women in the control group received routine care given in the hospital. The research period was 12-14 weeks for each participant. Postpartum Self-Evaluation Questionnaire was applied to both the experimental group and the control group at postpartum 10th day and postpartum sixth week. In addition, Mobile Application Usability Scale, Mobile Application Continued Intention to Use Scale, and Mobile Application Brand Loyalty Scale was applied at postpartum sixth week. The Independent samples t-test, Dependent sample t-test, Linear mixed effect model, and LSD multiple comparison test were used in the data analysis. In this study, it was determined that the Postpartum Self-Evaluation Questionnaire total mean score, perception of partner's participation in child care, gratification from labor and delivery experience, confidence in ability to cope with tasks of motherhood, satisfaction with motherhood and infant care and support for maternal role from family and friends mean scores were significantly decreased in the experimental group compared to the control group (p <0.05). The mean scores of confidence in ability to cope with tasks of motherhood and satisfaction with motherhood and infant care subscales show statistically significant differences in terms of group-time interaction (p<0.05). It has been concluded that the use of mobile health application developed according to Roy Adaptation Model increases postpartum adjustment in women and is effective in maintaining adaptation until the sixth week.
