Investigation of relationship in between nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, marital adjustment and spouse relationship

The aim of the research, was to examine the relationship in between nausea and vomiting in pregnant women, marital adjustment and spouse relationships.Research population constitute who get examined at obstetric policlinics in Education and Research Hospital of Izmir Ege Maternity Home and Women Diseases. It was taken to research samples, 400 pregnant women who were weeks of gestation 20-24, have not been medical complications except that nausea and vomiting, married, at least been literate, applied to the policlinics in 2010 between June and September and accepted to join the research.While data were collected, four form were used. Personal Information Form, The Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Form, Marital Adjustment Test and Prenatal Self Evaluation Questionnaire subscales for situation of relationship with her husband.In the evaluation of the obtained data, calculations of number and percentage were used. At the research analysis to determine association with marital adjustment and spouse relationship with nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and marital adjustment with spouse relationship was performed Pearson Moments Correlational Analysis.Pregnant women who examined within the scope of research the Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Instrument?s mean scores 6.1, Marital Adjustment Test?s mean scores 44.01 and Prenatal Self Evaluation Questionnaire subscales for situation of relationship with her husband?s mean scores 17.56 were found to be. As a result of correlational analysis was assigned between the severity of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and martial adjustment was weak, and a statistically significant negatif relationship (r =-0.320, P=0.000), and between the severity of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and spouse relationship was statistically insignificant relationship (r = 0.081, P= 0.106). At the research, in consequence of correlational analysis in between marital adjustment and spouse relationship was found that moderate power, and statistically significant negatif relationship (r =-0.677, P= 0.00).According to results, it can be said if marital adjustment increases, the severity of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy can decrease and marital adjustment can influence nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. In this direction, it can suggested that, nurses need to estimate marrital adjustment the couples who have decided to have children, determine which areas are problem couples who have low marital adjustment and consulting that areas and direct to marriage and family counseling centers.Key Words: Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, martial adjustment, spouse relationship.
