Role of Turkish Red Crescent Community Centers in resolving family problems of Syrians under temporary protection (The case of Kocaeli)

Due to the war and internal turmoil in Syria, millions of people had to leave their living quarters and migrate to different countries. More than 3.5 million Syrian individuals have had to migrate from Syria to Turkey. Syrian families who started to live in Turkey during the integration process, nutrition, shelter, health, education, access to social services, exclusion, social and economic etc. have faced many problems. One of the most important of these problems is the domestic problems they face. Many families have to break up due to the inability to solve many domestic problems such as communication problems within the family, domestic violence, neglect and abuse, divorce, social and economic problems. In this context, this research; It aims to reveal the family problems and relations faced by Syrian families with Temporary Protection status living in Kocaeli and to determine the role of the Turkish Red Crescent Kocaeli Community Center in solving these problems. Mixed research method was used in the research. It was carried out on a sample of 200 Syrian families randomly selected from the population of 2000 Syrian families who are beneficiaries of Kocaeli Community Center. In order to reveal the family problems and relationships of the participants, a survey based on face-to-face interviews was applied. In order to determine the role of Kocaeli Community Center in solving family problems, survey questions, observations of the researcher and documents were included. As a result of the research; The most common domestic problems Syrians face are; economic disputes and problems, conflict/argument, verbal/psychological violence and family communication problems. It was concluded that the participants were generally satisfied with the activities of the Community Center and that it had a positive contribution to the solution of family problems.
