The worship of hecate from past to present

Beliefs have been so influential on human beings throughout history that it has been observed that they have caused them to give up their wealth, food sources and lives when the time comes. This is such a fanatical passion that it is possible to say that it has always been at the centre of the lives of human beings during their evolution throughout history. This passion; moral order, peace, norms, status, passion for life, science, etc. It can be said that it brings along many things. It can be said that there is a belief system underlying every development recorded by mankind throughout history. You can include everything in this situation; science, trade, politics, law, etc. It is observed that these belief systems have shown stretches and contractions throughout history. These stretches and contractions may differ according to the needs of mankind. The mother goddess Hecate, who first appeared as a healer, was later defined as a sorceress and witch with her negative characteristics. Due to the intense worship of Hecate in ancient times and the fact that she is mentioned in many ancient sources, it is observed that the goddess has been actively worshipped from the past to the present and continues to be seen. In the still living legends and scholastic thought structure of the Middle Ages, it is observed that the goddess is popular with her sorceress and witch form. The majority of both ancient and modern sources about the goddess since her first appearance and the inconsistencies and disagreements in these sources have blurred the cult of this goddess and made it difficult for us to understand. In this study, the worship of the goddess in ancient times, her position in ancient and modern sources, her emergence, her development and her worship today are analysed. In addition, how Hecate has become a popular culture material today and how she is used in every field from ornaments to literature has been tried to be shown within the scope of this study. Again in this study, it has been tried to determine where, how and among which groups today's worship in the name of the goddess takes place. This study aims to shed light on the journey of the goddess from the past to the present and to provide information in this direction and to contribute to the literature.
