From past to present, the tradition of qur'an memorizationin Trabzon: Mehmet Rüştü Aşikkutlu Qur'an course example

Since the Qur'an contains all the divine revelations sent by Allah and is the last divine book, it has been the field of interest of people from the moment it was sent to the present day. From the moment it is started to be revealed, it has been the subject of special efforts of Muslims to preserve it in memory and action so as to be the memorizer of the Qur'an (i.e. Hafiz). In this way, a lot of effort was undertaken under the guidance of the Prophet. The activity of hafiz, means the memorization of the entire Qur'an. It has survived to the present day by preserving its importance from the time of the Prophet. Today, the tradition of hafiz, which maintains its importance in our country and in all Muslim countries, has been and continues to be the subject of many academic studies with its various aspects. In our research, being at the first place in our country in terms of the number of graduated hafiz and having gained a great reputation with the teachers it has trained "From Past to Present, The Tradition of Qur'an Memorization in Trabzon: Mehmet Rüştü Aşıkkutlu Qur'an Course Example" subject is studied. Our main aim is to show the reasons of the success of the hafiz training carried out in the aforementioned place. One of the reasons for us is to deal with the extraordinary effort put forth by the teachers in the madrasahs and the people in the surrounding area that form the basis of the aforementioned Qur'an Course and transfer it to the next generations. We conclude that Muslims have been carrying out the Hafiz activities voluntarily, not compulsory, from the time of the Prophet to the present, and that the effort to pass it on to the next generations by removing the worries caused by the conditions of the period plays a dominant role in this effort. Another conclusion is that the self-sacrifice of the teachers working in the madrasahs in the region that is the subject of this research and the people who support them in maintaining the tradition of hafiz had a great share in the continuation of this tradition. While researching the subject, both the works related to the history of the region and the works that include the lives of important personalities related to our subject are discussed.
