Comparison of Cattle Which Are Grown in Modern and Traditional Husbandry Facilities in Terms of Internal Medicine Parameters This study was carried out on a total of 100 cattle aged between 6 to 18 months housed in modern (n = 50) and traditional (n=50) husbandry facilities to investigate some important parameters related to internal medicine. Contrary to modern husbandry facilities, health status such as optimal temperature, humidity, adequate intake of water, proper circulation area and hygiene, are not sufficient in the traditional husbandry, and these factors cause stress on the animals leading to pathological changes in clinical, ruminant content, hematological and some biochemical parameters. For this purpose; routine clinical examinations (body temperature, respiration and heart rates), ruminal fluid examinations (rumen pH, infusoria count), hematological examinations (WBC, RBC, HB, HCT, etc.), blood gas measurements (such as pCO2, TCO2, HCO3-, LAKT), and blood biochemical assays (such as cortisol, serotonin, T3/T4, AST, GGT, TP and ALB) were measured in all animals on days 1, 3 and 7 of the study. At the end of the study; respiration and heart frequencies were higher than those of the animals in the modern husbandry, and these differences were statistically significant (p <0.05), but there were no statistically significant differences (p> 0.05) between the groups in terms of the ruminal infusioria count although it was numerically low in traditional husbandry group. WBC, RBC, HCT, HB and NOTR in traditional husbandry animals were found to be statistically significantly higher (p <0.05) than those of the animals in modern husbandry. Compared to animals raised in modern husbandry, PCO2 and HCO3- levels were found to be significantly higher (p <0.05), while Na, K and Cl levels were lower (p <0.05). Compared with animals grown in modern husbandry, AST and GGT enzymes and GLU and CORT concentrations in the animals in traditional husbandry were found to be statistically significant (p <0.05) whereas SRT, T3/T4 levels and TP and ALB concentrations were statistically significantly (p <0.05) lower. In this study, it has come to the conclusion that the animals in the traditional husbandry were under constant pressure by the stressors such as temperature, humidity, motion limitation, resulting in slowing down of metabolism, loss of yield, and suppression of the immune system in response to these adverse conditions. From this point of view, it has been proven with scientific data collected in our study that the further acceleration and support of the transformation of traditional husbandry into modern ones in our country has a great contribution potential on our country's economy. This work is an original study in the sense that it is the first study to include the mentioned parameters in the region and the whole country, and we believe that this will be a reference for future studies.
