Abstract (EN)

In this study, the material properties and wear performance of Al-Si alloys were investigated by using conventional shot peening (CSP) and severe shot peening (SSP) processes with the effect of severe plastic deformation (SPD). Al-Si alloys are widely used in the automotive and aerospace industries due to their high specific strength, corrosion resistance and light weight. The aim of the study is to understand the effects of different shot peening intensities on the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear performance of Al-Si cast alloy. The research started with an extensive literature review focusing on the physical properties and industrial applications of Al-Si alloys. In the experiments, A356 Al-Si alloy specimens were subjected to CSP and SSP and the changes in surface morphology, microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated. Advanced characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) were used to analyze the surface and subsurface changes.
