Abstract (EN)

There have been some changes in the parent-child relationship from past to present. In this relationship, the way they communicate, their living standards, their concerns about life, and the roles they assume have changed. Authoritarian parents of the past have raised the tolerant parents of today. With The participation of women in the worklife after the Industrial Revolution and by the development of technology which leads that there is almost no home left without the internet some values in society have changed, also the transition from the perception of social privacy to the perception of individual privacy has significantly affected the parent-child relationship. In addition to all these changes, another factor that affects human life is social media. With the influence of social media on our lives, the parent-child relationship has changed, especially the reactions of parents to this platform have begun to affect their actions in daily life. Purpose of the study; To investigate the reflection of social media, which emerged as a result of digital transformations, on parent-child communication. A literature review was conducted in this field and a qualitative research technique was used. In the literature review, contents about changes in family structure, the historical process of social media and the changes in society in the context of these two were examined. In the research, interview technique, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used. The results of the interviews with 16 participants were evaluated. The snowball technique was used because the interviewers were required to have certain qualifications (being a parent, using social media). Based on three participants, a sample group of sixteen people was reached and as a result of the interviews; Thematic analyzes were made under the headings of social media influence and parent types in communication with the child, e-privacy limits, changing family communication and social media influence from past to present, and parents' reactions on social media. As a result of the research, it was concluded that social media has effects on the communication between the parent-child relationship.
