A comperative research between traditional journalism and internet journalism

Mass communication in which books, magazines, newspapers are based on printing technology or radio television based on electro-magnetic technology has taken a different dimension and took its modern way with the discovery of the Internet at the end of the past century. Internet technology which is used by almost all sectors, has drawn the attention of the media sector also at the end of the 20th century. Media managers by effectively using the means of Internet -which enables to provide news to a larger amount of society in a more cheaper way- has moved their newspapers over Internet. This situation has revealed a new tool of mass communication that is called internet journalism. In this study, the advantages and disadvantages of Internet for journalism has been determined by comparing traditional newspapers with the Internet newspapers. In this context, Turkey's most read, Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Milliyet, Sabah, Yeni Safak, and Zaman's traditional newspapers and Internet newspapers are examined by comparing them for a 10 day period. Traditional and online newspapers review especially made by counting and comparing the news and the photographs on the agenda, politics, politics, economics, arts and culture pages and on columnist pages. Also, news portals and web sites of television which emerged with the development of internet has also evaluated in terms of journalism. When all the findings are evaluated, it is seen that Internet Journalism has in the stage of development in Turkey and affects traditional journalism through the opportunities that it provides.Also the internet news portals which emerged with the birth of internet, has revealed a new approach to journalism and provides different possibilities to readers.
