Examining the comparisons of traditional Turkish Art Music and Turkish Folk Music

Music tradition rooted from Anatolia is nowadays divided into two parts , one is Folk music the other is Art music.Turkish Art Music is a kind of music which has tune.The period from during the 10th Century when Farabi lived to the year 1405 when Timurlek died consists of the term when Turkish music was explained in terms of sight and the formation term when Turkish music was started to be quoted in written form. Turkish Art Music was deeply affected by territories lived on and music of nations existing there. Byzantium church music and the music of other nations were also utilized.Lots of tunes existing in this branch of art were taken from communities prevailing during Ottoman Period. From the middle of 17th Century to the 1730 when Tulip Revolution ended,The Classical Period ,during which the effect of European ,Baroque and Rococo penetrated in Ottoman palaces and made a different synthesis with the culture of the East, continued.The period from 1730 to the 1836 when İsmail Dede Efendi died is the Last Period, the period lasting until 1745 was the Romantic Period and the period from the middle of 20th Century until today is the Contemporary Period. Folk Music is a kind of music coming from within the communities , living by passing from one person to another having a permanence, being adorned with self culture of communities during centuries, living generally accepted by public.All over the world ,folk songs have been produced far from the towns.Almost each nation has a folk music belonging to itself.The form of folk music peculiar to Anatolia is called Turkish Folk Music. It ıs not possible to seperate the kinds of Turkish Art Music and Turkish Folk Music in sharp lines.Most of the tunes used in Art Music are also used in Folk Music. In terms of rhythm, most of the simple processes are also used in Folk Music.They are parts of a whole in basis.In this study ,literary men and the historical development of both kinds will be examined and tune in Art Music ,tributary in Folk Music will be widely handled and their similarities and differences will be emphasized.Tributary in Folk Music fits suitable for which tune in Art Music, the melodic structures of both kinds and meanwhile Turkish Art Music songs consisting ballad features will also be included.
