The distinguished designs used in the making of porcelain by investigating the traditional far east culture

Between the 10th and 14th centuries in the Far East, ? Celadon? was the most used word in the Sankrit language. It has derived from two words in Sankrit language, ?silla?meaning stone , ?dhara? meaning green. In other words Celadon means ?green stone? jade. The belief of possessing this astonishing stone is, it brings luck and success and gives natural power.The Celadon glazed ceramics can vary from gray-green to gray- blue and to yellow-green. The color can change according to the composition of the glaze, the type of clay used and the thickness of the clay. The most known Celadon glazes are from a pale light green to a very dark green. Celadon glaze is usually baked in reduced atmospheric ovens.The making of Celadons was started in China, during the period of the Tang Dynasty (618-908), resembling jade with its green glaze and bright red rings underneath. During the Sung (960-1279) and Yuan (1271-1368) Dynasties, the use of Celadon glaze had reached its highest level. In their decorations they have used plant and animal motifs.With the effects that came from China across Korea and by means of Budhism, Celadon glazing had reached Japan. The turning point in flourishing the art of ceramics was through the spread of Zen Budhism and carrying out?ça-nu-yu? (tea) ceromonies by the Zen priests. ?Kinuta? is the traditional Japanese blue glazed Celedons.The Korean Celadons are actually a style of pottery. This style is recognized by its light green color, bright glaze and the clay layers formed by the different colors. The art of pottery with its mysterious blue-green skilled Celadon glazing and the engraving technique had reached its peak during the ruling of Koro up to the 12th and 13th centuries.The Thailand Celadon is one of the three main styles of ceramics. Its production had started in the beginning of the 700?s and it continued developing. People have tried to make one resembling the opaque jade stone.In summary Celadon is a traditional work of an object made by hand. The works represent the master?s culture, values, traditions and religious beliefs. The masters also add their emotions and their ingenuity to their works. And today, many handicraftsmen have researched Celadon.In this research, the experimental works have been made on forming the green from the Celadon oxidation and the red glazing from the atmospheric reduction on porcelain Celadon glazing.
