For this reason, the preservation ofthe natural and cultural values that are a resource for tourism, should be taken into hand withpriority as a main principle.In this study, next to the historical development, reasons, aims and functions of natureconservation and national parks, the nature conservation categories in our country and in theworld, the general problems of protected areas in our country; the tourism and recreationconcept under the nature conservation understanding have been examined.Afterwards, the natural landscape characteristics, historical and archeologiccharacteristics, socio-culturel structure and the tourism and recreation potential of theGallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park that has a national and international importancehave been examined and the present problems have been given.As a result, under the light of the data and protection-usage framework, by makingevaluations towards the development and increase of the tourism and recreation usage in theGallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, some suggestions have been given towards theproblems such as legality, management and environmental that the park comes up.2005, 131 pagesKEY WORDS: Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, nature conservation, nationalpark, recreation, tourismIV
