Abstract (EN)

Expressed as a transition zone between land and sea, the coast has a multi-factor, multi-process character in which both terrestrial and marine processes are effective. Coastal regions have been exposed to anthropogenic pressures from past to present due to their natural and human advantages. This situation changes coastal morphodynamics and coastal processes. The coasts, which have a very complex and sensitive structure, are faced with anthropogenic pressures, as well as climate change that make it feel today considerably and the new conditions created by it. In this context, the geographical features of the Gelik stream and Bartın stream that existed in the past and today have been resulted and evaluated within the etude of applied coastal geomorphology. In this study, various analyzes were carried out using Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing, including coastline, climate, landcover/landuse, and dune areas. DSAS plug-in, which runs in ArcGIS, have been used to reveal the erosion and deposition processes on the coast. As a result of the obtained analysis, erosion has occurred between -23 and - 366 m in the downstream part of Filyos Stream and accumulation has occurred between 47-and 148 m in the east of Hisarönü Port. In the regression analysis generated according to long-year climate data obtained from Bartın, Zonguldak and Amasra stations in the environment of the study area; the annual average temperatures, annual total precipitation, annual average wind speed and evapotranspiration tend to increase in the region. According to the land cover/land use data obtained using the Random Forest algorithm, the change analysis of the study area between 1984 and 2020 has been presented. The constructions on the coastal regions cause the landcover /landuse characteristics in the region to change. In general, the pressures due to human activities in the coastal zone of the study area have been increasing and changing the coastal morphodynamics. As a result of the analysis and field observations, problems related to the applied coastal geomorphology of the study area have been revealed by specifying. One of the remarkable phenomenons among these problems is the port structures in the study area and the coastal problems caused by these structures.
