Effects of developing design tools and technologies on arhitectural design products

Design tools and technologies mediate between the ideas of the architect and the not yetmaterialized architectural product during architectural design process. The designer tries torelate to the nonexistent architecture and space through the use of these tools. Tools of thearchitect described as technologies of representation and technological tools are influential onarchitectural design product with their ability to communicate spatial experience. This is aresearch on what might be the effects of design tools and technologies on architectural designproducts. The concept of experience developed to understand and evaluate architecturaldesign product is sought for in the potential of design tools and technologies.Architectural design process in terms of creativity, mediation and knowledge and concepts ofinstrumentalism and mediation are studied. The parameters that define tools and technologiesas a component of design process with their existence and in their relation to the componentsof knowledge and creativity are defined. These parameters are organized in a structure ofexperientialism, in terms of subject:tool, subject-tool: object and subject:object relations in thedesign process.Effects of developing design tools and technologies on twentieth century architectural designproducts is studied through experiential aspects of representation and geometry ofarchitectural space and form; with their properties of metaphorization and ability to producemetaphors. Continuities, discontinuities and transformations in conception and production ofmuseum architectures are reviewed according to assimilation periods of digital technologies.In conclusion, the paradigm of experientialism is introduced in parallel to the change fromanalogue to digital technologies.
