Abstract (EN)
Poverty is one of the main problems faced by developed and developing countries as well as underdeveloped countries that have existed throughout human history. Understanding poverty is extremely important as it influences the formulation of interventions and policies to address poverty. In addition to the efforts of countries in the fight against poverty, many international institutions and organizations also play an important role in supporting the poorest parts of the world. If policies and prescriptions are properly designed and implemented, it will be a good start to achieve the required course correction. The main theme of the study is to empirically examine the effects of GDP growth rate, general government health expenditures, government expenditures for education, inflation rate, population growth rate, Gini coefficient, unemployment rate and tax income on poverty. In this direction, the data of 24 developed countries in the 2004-2019 period and 22 developing countries in the 2000-2018 period were used. According to the analysis results, in developing countries; increases in the Gini coefficient, inflation rate and unemployment rate increase poverty; it has been concluded that increases in general government health expenditures, general government education expenditures and tax revenue within the GDP will have an impact on reducing poverty. In developed countries, it has been concluded that increases in general government health expenditures have an effect on reducing poverty, while increases in the Gini coefficient and unemployment rate have an effect on increasing poverty.
