Abstract (EN)
Occupational health and safety is the integration of the studies being done for providing worker's basic human rights like living and social security under the framework of human life's sanctity and basic human rights. The concept of occupational health and safety which has been developing in history, has become more important with globalization of industry and increasing number of major occupational accidents. Occupational health and safety practices and applications particularly in workplaces like shipyards where many hazards exist together in one place should be meticulously considered in order to ensure the health and safety of employees. In this thesis, occupational health and safety practices in shipbuilding industry will be emphasized. Also various statistical data have been obtained by analyzing the work accidents that have occurred and ended up with workers death in this industry. In addition, occupational health and safety practices which have been applied in the shipbuilding industry by means of the data obtained from occupational health and safety inspections will be explained.
