Abstract (EN)

On this diet, the developmen of larvae to adult stage was delayed by a 7 days relative to control larvae. The highest concentration of gemifloxacin (1.0%) significantly increased midgut MDA content by 3-fold. This antibiotic at all tested concentrations increased midgut PCO content. Gemifloxacin at 1.0% significantly increased midgut GST activity from 2.13 to 4.78 mol/mg protein/min respectively. Gemifloxacin also significantly decreased egg number. The females reared from control diet produced 134.46 per day, whereas high concentrations of gemifloxacin decreased the egg number to 26.75 and 53.5. Oxidative response and detoxification capacity of midgut vary with the antibiotic concentrations. The negative effects of antibiotic on biological traits of the insect, might be a result of these oxidative alterations in midgut and hemolymph.Keywords: Gemifloxacin, survivorship, midgut, Malondialdehyde, protein carbonyl, Glutathione S-transferase, Galleria mellonella
