Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of lower and upper extremity French Contrast Method training applied to young male basketball players on some biochemical parameters and performance values. The research group consisted of a total of 16 male basketball players aged between 16-18, who are in the infrastructure leagues and licensed in the basketball team of Diyarbakır Kayapınar Municipality Youth and Sportive Activities Sports Club Association. Two different training groups were formed using a randomized method, 8 male athletes in the lower extremity and 8 male athletes in the upper extremity groups. In addition to their regular training, both training groups were given French Contrast Method training for the lower and upper extremities for a total of 6 weeks, 2 days a week in the last three weeks of the preparation period and 1 day a week in the first three weeks of the competition period. Height, body weight, body mass index, body fat percentage from anthropometric characteristics; flexibility, horizontal and vertical jumping, leg and back strength, right and left hand grip strength, 20 meter and 30 meter speed runs, Borg scale values from performance values; ALP, AST, ALT, LDH, glucose, creatinine, bilirubin, urea, uric acid, protein, globulin, albumin, potassium, sodium and calcium from biochemical parameters of groups were measured before the study and after the 6-week training period. The obtained values were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 statistical program and interpreted according to the significance level of p<0.01 and p<0.05. When the results were examined, the difference between the body mass indexes was found to be significant in the comparison of the anthropometric characteristics of both groups after the training (p<0.05). In the comparison of the performance values of the athletes after the training of the lower and upper extremity training groups, a statistical difference was found only between the flexibility value (p<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference between some biochemical parameters of the athletes in both groups after the training (p>0.05). In conclusion; It has been observed that the anthropometric characteristics and performance values of the athletes have improved with the French Contrast Method training applied for the lower and upper extremities in young male basketball players. After the French Contrast Method applications, no significant difference was found between the lower and upper extremity training groups in terms of performance values and biochemical parameters.
