Determination of the youth population's wishes to making agriculture; example of region TR81-82

In this study, it is aimed to determine the perspectives of young people living in rural areas towards rural areas and agricultural activities and to determine their migration behaviors. For this reason, rural youth's expectations from agriculture, their migration intentions, reasons and behaviors were examined. In the study, the socio-economic structure of the households where the young people live was also investigated, and the perspectives of the young people's parents on agriculture and migration were also examined and the effect on the migration behavior of the youth was determined. The data regarding the face-to-face survey study with a total of 122 young people living in the villages of Çankırı, Zonguldak and Sinop provinces were evaluated. In addition, 122 surveys were conducted with household heads in order to determine the socio-economic information of the households where young people live. The young people who were surveyed were selected in the 15-29 age range for purpose. The data obtained from the questionnaires were interpreted by creating charts and using chi-square analysis, the relationships between some characteristics of rural youth and their thoughts to migrate were determined. According to the research findings, it was determined that 63.9% of the youth wanted to migrate from the rural area where they lived, 29.5% did not want to migrate, and 6.6% were undecided. The majority of young people who want to migrate plan to work in non-agricultural areas where they migrate. It has been determined that factors such as the way of migration of the youth, the work plan, the approach of the family to the migration decision play a decisive role in their migration behavior. It has been determined that there is a 1% significant relationship between the intention to migrate of rural youth and their age and the adequacy of the income of the households. It has been determined that as the age of rural youth increases and the household income is sufficient, the intention to migrate decreases. In addition, it was concluded that among the reasons for rural youth to migrate or stay in agriculture, economic reasons come to the fore.
