Abstract (EN)
In this study, which aims to examine the prediction of problem-solving skills and automatic thoughts in young adults on family communication patterns, the relational screening model from quantitative research method, was used. The sample of the study consists of young adults between the ages of 18-29 in the Beytepe District of Çankaya district of Ankara. It was applied to a total of 415 people. In this study, 'Problem Solving Inventory', 'Automatic Thoughts Scale', 'Family Communication Patterns Scale' and 'Personal Information Form' were used. To analyze the data, t test, ANOVA, Levene test, spearman brown's difference correlation analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were performed. According to the analysis results, it was observed that there were no differences according to gender in the 2 sub-dimensions of family communication patterns (Harmony-Dialogue) and the 3 sub-dimensions of the problem-solving inventory (Problem Solving Confidence, Approach-Avoidance, Personal Control) in young adults. A significant difference was detected in automatic thought, dialogue, adaptation and personal control dimensions according to education level, but no significant difference was detected in problem-solving confidence, approach-avoidance and problem-solving skill total score variables according to education level. It was concluded that the automatic thought levels of the sample group did not differ according to education level. A low-level positive relationship was detected between automatic thought and dialogue, in addition a moderate-negative significant relationship was found between automatic thought and the total score of approach-avoidance and problem-solving skills. According to the analysis results, it can be said that the variance of problem-solving confidence and personal control dialogue level explain the 8%, while problem-solving confidence explains 7% of the variance of the adaptation level.
