Examining the relationship between psychological resilience level and internet addiction in young adults

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the psychological resilience level of young adult individuals and internet addiction. In the study, the internet addiction level and psychological resilience level of young adults were measured and the relationship between these two factors was analyzed using statistical methods. In addition, the relationship between young adults' psychological resilience level and internet addiction variables such as gender, employment status, age, education level, birth order, economic status, social media platform and time spent on social media was examined. The research is in the relational scanning model. The study group consists of 437 people (292 women, 145 men) between the ages of 18-40. The data of the study were collected with the Personal Information Form, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale and Young Internet Addiction Test Short Form. Pearson Correlation Test, Independent Sample T Test and Anova test were applied to analyze the data. In case of a significant difference between the groups, the LCD test was used to determine which groups the significance was. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there was a negative and significant relationship between the level of psychological resilience and internet addiction. In this case, as the level of psychological resilience increases, the level of internet addiction decreases, or vice versa. Psychological resilience level and internet addiction are demographic variables; However, it varies depending on gender, age, financial situation and time spent on social media; It was determined that there was no difference in the variables of employment status, birth order, educational status and most used social media platform.
