The effect of childhood traumas on spiritual well-being of young adults

Abstract (EN)

The study aims to investigate childhood traumas' effect on individuals' spiritual wellbeing in young adulthood. In this context, the relational survey model, one of the general survey models of the quantitative design, was used in the research. The research was planned as cross-sectional. The population of the research consists of young adult individuals in Turkey. The study, in which the convenience sampling method was used, was carried out with 200 people who participated voluntarily. The online questionnaire consists of a demographic questionnaire, Childhood Trauma Scale, and Spiritual WellBeing Scale. As a result of the quantitative analysis, it was found that the measurement tests of the scales had high reliability; it is seen that the structure tests and measurement tests have an acceptable fit. As a result of the research, it was found that the variable of childhood trauma predicted the spiritual well-being factor in a significant and negative way. In addition, it was concluded that physical abuse and emotional neglect sub-factors simultaneously predicted the nature harmony sub-factor, the emotional neglect sub-factor predicted the anomie sub-factor, overprotection control, and the emotional neglect subfactors simultaneously predicted transcendence sub-factor in a significant and negative way.
