Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the predictive status of schema domains for levels difficulties of emotional regulation in young adults and to examine schema domains and levels difficulties of emotional regulation according to socio-demographic variables such as gender and perceived socioeconomic level of the family during childhood. This research is a descriptive research using the relational model. The study group of the research consists of young adults aged 18-28, consisting of 590 volunteer participants. 349 (59.2%) of the participants forming the study group were female and 241 (40.8%) were male. In the study, Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form, Turkish Version of Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale-Brief Form and Personal Information Form were used. The 23.0 version of the IBM SPSS Statistics program was used in the analysis of the research data. Regression analysis was performed to determine emotional regulation difficulty levels predictive status of schema domains. Whether the levels of emotion regulation difficulties and schema domains show significant differences according to gender and the perceived socioeconomic level of the family in childhood were analyzed with T-Test in Independent Samples and One-Way Analysis of Variance. It was found that impaired autonomy, unrelenting standards and other-directedness schema domain predicted the difficulty in emotion regulation variable positively and statistically. It was determined that the schema area of disconnection and impaired limits was not a predictor of the difficulty in emotion regulation variable. It was observed that the levels of difficulty in emotion regulation differed significantly according to gender, and did not differ according to the perceived socioeconomic level of the family during childhood. It has been determined that the area of impaired autonomy differs significantly according to gender, but does not differ from other schema areas. It was concluded that impaired autonomy, disconnection and other-directedness schema domains showed a significant difference according to the perceived socioeconomic level of the family during childhood, while other schema domains did not.
