Digital addiction and the effect of digital addiction on family problems in young people

The subject of this study is the problems caused by the digital addiction that develops in young people in the family institution. The aim of the study is to determine how addiction develops and how this developing addiction affects family relationships and structures and what kind of problems it creates. In the same way, determining what can be done about how to prevent digital addiction based on these determinations constitutes a main objective of the research. The study was carried out theoretically. In this context, the current literature on the subject has been reviewed. In this thesis, it has been determined that young people turn to digital tools as an escape route due to the difficulties they experience in their current problems, and these digital orientations are preferred arbitrarily rather than consciously. In the same way, the unconscious spending of time in digital environments causes the development of digital addiction in them. The digital trend, which starts in the young people at first, is not noticed by the parents or this situation is ignored. Another issue that makes the problem inextricable is that young people generally do not accept that they are addicted. This makes the solution of the problem even more difficult. It has been determined that with digital addiction that develops in young people, domestic arguments and violence, leaving home, communication problems, work-related problems, out-of-community behavior tendencies and some socialization problems are experienced. If there are no permanent solutions to the problem of digital addiction among young people, it is inevitable that serious problems will occur in the personality and attitudes of young generations, family structures and social relations. This will cause the expectations of the society regarding the future visions of young people to be severely damaged.
