Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the role of Youth Camp Practices organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in revealing and developing self-awareness and social skills in campers. The general aim of this study is to reveal the self-awareness skills, social skills and the relationship between the campers participating in the Youth Camps of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, based on the student views. At the same time, the social skills and self-awareness skills of the participants were evaluated by comparing them with various demographic characteristics. Work: It was held in 2019-2020 with 480 campers who attended the camps during the Ministry of Youth and Sports Green Camp periods. As data collection tools in the study, The Personal Information Form (see Appendix A) containing questions about the participants' personal information, the "Affective Self Awareness Scale" (DÖFÖ) developed by Kauer (2010) and adapted into Turkish by Tatar et al. -33) and the "Social Skills Scale" (SST), originally developed by Riggio in 1986, was used to determine social skills. The reliability coefficient of the Affective Self-Awareness Scale (DÖFÖ-33) used within the scope of the study was 0,87 and the reliability coefficient for the Social Skills Scale (SSI) was calculated as 0,92. One-Way ANOVA and t test analyzes were applied to the data obtained in the study in the SPSS package program. The obtained findings are given in descriptive statistics tables. As a result of the study, when the total scores of the Affective Self Awareness Scale used to measure the affective self-awareness skills of the participants were evaluated, it was revealed that they had medium level affective self-awareness skills with 73,79 points, and when the total scores of the Social Skills Scale used to measure the social skills of the participants were evaluated, it was revealed that they had moderate social skills with 93,30 points. A positive and significant and acceptable result is obtained between the two variables in which the Affective Self-Awareness Scale (DÖFÖ) and the Social Skills Scale (SCI) are examined together (r = 0,180, p <0,01). Accordingly, it was concluded that as the affective self-awareness scores increased, the total social skill scores also increased.
