Abstract (EN)
189 SUMMARY This study aims at identifiying the appropriateness of the management activities in the General Directorate of Youth and Sports in terms of managerial processes. To achieve this aim, qualifications (personal characteristics) of the managers and staff of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports (GDYS) were determined and the effects of these qualifications on the activities related to the managerial processes (decision making, planning, organisation, communication, coordination, managing and inspection)of these two groups were analysed. Universe of this study is the managers and staff of GDYS. Any specific sample was not identified. During the study, it was aimed to include all of the managers and staff of GDYS, but only 403 managers and staff participated in the study. A survey questionnaire with 2 sections including 66 items was implemented to the participants. Total 369 participants (99 managers, 270 staff) responded properly the items. In the research, t-test including percentage, frequency, and statistical significancy (0.05), Variance Analysis both single and multi variance, and if parametric conditions are not available, Kruska-Wallis Variance Analysis were employed. Analysis of data was carried out by the use of SPSS. The following findings are found out as a result of analyses; 1- The views of managers and staff concerning managerial process differ. Managers stress that all of the managerial process are being implemented at higher levels but personnel states that these processes implemented not at a high level.190 2- In terms of gender, only regarding the process of coordination a distinction was found out both in managers and in staff. Women state that the process of coordination is less implemented. 3- Any significant difference was found out between the participants' views on the managerial processes and their age, their involvement in in-service training activities, their total experience in GDYS, managers' managerial experience, working experience in other institutions. 4- In terms of managers' educational level, there was difference only in the decision making process, and in terms of staffs educational level there were differences in the processes of organisation, coordination and inspection. 5- A significant difference was found regarding manager only in the cordination process and regarding staff in all processes except for the processes of decision making and managing. 6- In terms of staffs working experience in the units in GDYS, a difference at the level of 0.05 was found out regarding the processes of decision making and planning. 7- Regarding managers, in terms of working in different units in GDYS, there were differences in all managerial processes except for the managing process; in terms of working in other institutions, there were differences in all managerial processes except for the coordination process.
