The effectiveness on on task behaviour the usage of the self management strategies by the students with intellectual disabilities in general education classes

In this research, the effectiveness of the students' using the self management strategies on the behaviour of the student's interest to the lesson was studied. The students mentioned were with intellectual disabilities in general classes. In the research a) can the students with intellectual disabilities acquire the usage of the self management strategies and maintain the usege of these strategies after five and seven days? b) is the students with intellectual disabilities using the self management strategies effective on their interest to the lesson? c) when the students with intellectual disabilities use the self management strategies in another lesson (Turkish), can they generalize on task behaviour? answer to these questions are sought. In the research a multipleprobe design across subjects single-subject research methodology was used in this study. Three students 10-11 years old with mild intellectual disabilities participated in the research. The dependent variable of the research is on task behaviour of the students with intellectual disabilities, in independent varible is an instruction program based on self management strategies consist of the strategy of self-prompting, self-instruction, self-monitoring, self-evaluation and selfreinforcement. At the end of the research students with intellectual disabilities can use the self-management strategies, can maintain this acquirement after five and seven days, when the students use the self-management strategies, this effected the interest of the student's to the lesson. The increase on on task behaviour occurred and students with intellectual disabilities can generalized the usage of the self- management strategies to another lesson and an increase on task behavior was found too. Moreover, at the social validity findings, all of the classroom teachers reported positive view about the research. These findings obtained from this research were discussed within the framework of literature and applications.
