Abstract (EN)

The goal of this study is to determine the relationship between school vandalism and school climate from the point of the general high school students? perceptions and to develop solution offers according to the data obtained. The data collection tool that was used in the research has been consisted of three units. In the first chapter Individual information, in the second chapter the 51 items and 9 dimensions of ?The Questionnaire of School Climate? that is consisted of the 76 items and 15 dimensions and is adapted into Turkish by Acarbay (2006) and, in the last chapter ?the Questionnaire of School Vandalism? to which two more items have been added and which is consisted of 26 items and is improved by Oruç (2008) were used. The questionnaires that were determined as universe were applied to the 1228 students of all six general high schools in Sincan District. While analyzing the secondary problems of the research, t-test, Single Factor ANOVA (analysis of variance), and the Pearson?s correlation coefficient were applied and the values of frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation were calculated.A positive significant relationship was found among the general high school students? positive perceptions levels regarding the school climate and the variances as ?class level?, ?The number of family members?, ?economical level of the family? mother?s educational level?, and ? father?s educational level?. According to this finding it is expressed that as long as the levels of the related variances increase, the students? positive perceptions level regarding the school climate increases. The views about the school climate is also varied related to ? Gender? variance and male students comparing to female students evaluate the school climate positively in terms of ?students? relationships?.A negatively significant relationship was found among the general high school students? perceptions level regarding vandalism and the variances as ?class level?, ?The number of family members?, ?economical level of the family? and, mother?s educational level?. According to this finding as long as the levels of the related variances increase, the students express that the vandalism are less performed. The views about the vandalism are also varied related to ?Gender? variance and the female students comparing to the male students say that there are much vandalism in the school. Any significant differences couldn?t be found between the vandalism and the variances as ?economical income level? and ?father?s educational level?.According the perception of the general high school students there are slightly negative significant relationships between the dimensions of the school climate and the vandalism. It has been determined that the highest relationship level with 4% is between ? the vandalism? and ?the relationship between students? and the lowest relationship level with 09% is between ?the vandalism? and ? school and environment?. This finding shows that a healthy school climate which is improved and continued by the all school participants within a common perspective is an important role to avoid the vandalism causing harmful effects upon the education system in schools.
