The organizational citizenship behaviors of high school branch teachers

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this search is to determine the level of organizational citizenship behaviors of the branch teachers who are working in the secondary schools according to sub-scales of altruism, civic virtue, courtesy, sportsmanship, Conscientiousness. Organizational citizenship behaviors? of the teachers, determine the differences in perceptions according to the variables such as age, gender, seniority, marital status, the number of children they have and the program that they have graduated.The branch teachers who are working in the official day-training high schools which are in the borough of Bahçelievler of İstanbul in 2008-2009 educational years form the total field under survey. The inquiries were sent to 390 branch teachers in this county and 270 of them were turned back. In this research teachers? organizational citizenship behaviors were examined with the Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale that was developed by Podsakoff, MacKenzie, Moorman and Fetter (1990) and Moorman (1991). Education Institutions were examined with the scale which was used by Polat, Soner (2007) in his unpublished thesis of doctor that was about Organizational Justice Perceptions of Secondary School Teachers, the relations between the level of Organizational Confidence and The Organizational Behaviors. This scale consisted of 20 likert-type items. The data of this research were analyzed with SPSS for Windows 13.0 package program. For the variables such as gender, marital status, school type, administrator type; frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic mean (x), Standard deviation (ss), t test an done-way analysis of variance were used. In such cases that the differences make sense, the Scheffer test were applied to determine the source of differences.This shows that the scores of organizational citizenship of the people who joined this search is high. No significant differences are found when the organizational behaviors are analyzed according to seniority, graduation program, gender and the number of children they have. Some differences are found in the organizational citizenship behaviors according to branch of teachers and marital status.Probable explanations of the results and the researches that will be worthwhile of studying on this subject in the future are mentioned under the title of Discussion and Comment.Keywords: Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Organizational Behavior.
