Abstract (EN)
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographiceffectiveness of a periodontal regenerative therapy using combination ofplatelet rich plasma (PRP) and bovine derived xenograft (BDX) in thetreatment of Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis (AgP) patients havingintrabony periodontal defects.Twenty Generalized AgP patients, aged 21?35 years, were included. A totalof 100 intrabony defects with an associated probing depth (PD) of ? 5 mmand an intrabony component of ? 3 mm were selected. Defects weresurgically treated with PRP+BDX. Clinical and radiographic parametersincluding plaque and sulcus bleeding indices, PD, relative marginal softtissue and attachment levels, probing/radiographic bone levels wererecorded at baseline and 12 months after surgery,At 12 months postoperatively, clinical and radiographical parameters wereimproved compared to baseline (p<0.0001). The mean changes at the deepestdefect sites were: 4.48±1.01 mm PD reduction, 0.84±0.54mm recession,3.62±0.77 mm attachment gain, 3.11±0.62mm clinical and 2.89±1.47 mmradiographic bone gain.Treatment of Generalized AgP with a combination of PRP and BDX leads to asignificantly favorable clinical and radiographic improvements in periodontalintrabony defects compared to baseline.
