Trans individuals have been exposed to violence applied in different ways in their daily lives due to their gender identities. The violence which they have suffered from led a social movement to come into being. . In the 1990s, trans- movement started to grow both in national and international platforms as hate crimes targeting trans individuals increased, States failed in penalizing the murderers of trans-individuals properly and trans-individuals started to be visible by the public opinion. In the 2000s, trans-movement started to carry out more intensified activities based on their own self-organization in several countries including Turkey. The purpose of this study is to reveal the problems and struggle of trans individuals in Turkey.
