Bibliometric analysis based on WoS Database of articles published on geometry education

The purpose of this study is to examine the articles indexed in SSCI (1975-2020) and ESCI (2015-2020) in relation to the "Geometry learning area" with bibliometric analysis method. As a result of the research in the Web of Science database, 72 articles within the scope of SSCI related to the geometry learning field and 37 articles within the scope of ESCI were reached. The 109 articles included in terms of variables such as the country of origin, publication, the keywords used, the average number of authors, the language of writing and the journal quarterly (Q), research methods, sample/study group and a bibliometric analysis was made. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, the articles on geometry learning within the scope of SSCI and ESCI have increased regularly over time depending on the years, the highest number of articles within the scope of SSCI have been addressed to the United States, while within the scope of ESCI the articles on geometry education have been addressed to Italy at most. While it was published in 2020, it was determined that it was published in ESCI in 2017. While quantitative research methods were preferred the most in geometry education articles in SSCI, qualitative research methods were preferred in geometry education articles within the scope of ESCI. In the articles in both scopes, it was concluded that the most studies were carried out with students. Other findings that will be discussed in this study on the field of geometry learning are important in terms of seeing the place of geometry education worldwide. As a result of the research, some suggestions can be made such as expanding the scope of the study by making bibliometric analyzes in the field of geometry education in scientific publications (theses, books, papers etc.) other than the articles, for the studies that will follow, such as increasing the database platforms in the studies, citation analysis, which is a type of bibliometric analysis method, in the articles developed.
