Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of geometric mechanical intelligence games on primary school 3rd grade students' three-dimensional thinking skills and academic achievement in mathematics course. For this purpose, tangram, soma cube and geometric structures from geometric mechanical intelligence games were used. The study group of the research consists of experimental and control group students selected by convenient sampling method, who continue to study in the 3rd grade of a public school in the Batman province Beşiri district in the 2021-20022 academic year. The study was carried out with a quasi-experimental design with pre-test post-test paired control group, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The experimental group students were given applications with intelligence games called tangram, soma cube and geometric structures for 9 weeks, and the education continued as planned with the control group students. "Three-Dimensional Geometric Thinking Test" was used to measure the three-dimensional geometric thinking skills of the students, and the "Academic Achievement Test" developed by the researcher was used to determine the academic achievement in the field of learning geometric objects and shapes in the 3rd grade mathematics course. For the statistical analysis of the obtained data, an appropriate analysis program was used and the statistical data were interpreted by tabulating. According to the findings obtained; It was concluded that geometric mechanical intelligence games were effective in increasing the three-dimensional geometric thinking skills of primary school 3rd grade students and increasing their academic success in the field of learning geometric objects and shapes in mathematics. According to the results of the research, it is suggested that intelligence games, which affect the increase of three dimensional geometric thinking skills and academic success, should be given as a lesson in primary school education and that studies should be increased to spread these games.
