Abstract (EN)

High oven slag that is produced as waste material during iron-steel production is widely used as a construction material because it has puzzolanic activity, is a waste material and increases the durability performance of cement-concrete samples. Elazığ ferrochromium slag is a puzzolan with a (CaO+MgO) / (SiO2) ratio by mass of 1,3 and that provides the necessary condition with regard to its chemical composition in accordance with TS EN 197-1. Recently, the number of studies has increased on the activation of various puzzolans such as high oven slag and fly ash via alkaline material such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), water glass (Na2SiO3) as well as on the production of alkaline activated mortar. In this study, mortar productions were carried out for the Elazığ ferrochromium slag at cement thickness with NaOH and Na2SiO3 at activation temperatures of 40, 65 and 90°C. Experiments were carried out on the produced mortars for start and finish times of setting as well as consistency. Whereas unit weight, ultrasound, water absorption and compressive strength were determined for hardened mortar samples at the end of the 1st., 2nd. and 4th.days in the drying oven.
