Abstract (EN)

The study area is located in the Middle Euphrates section of the Southeastern Anatolia region. In general, the region covers the district of Gerger and its vicinity in Adıyaman province. The study area is part of Ulubaba Mountain in the north, Hazarbaba and Maden Mountains in the northeast, and part of the Klor Mountain, which is also part of the Southeast Taurus Mountain range. This region is fragmented by both the Rivers and its tributaries. Formations consisting of various rock units aged between Cretaceous and Miocene are present in the study area as a geological unit. East Anatolian fault, which is one of Turkey's most active tectonic faults in the field with a reason to go through a place close to the field work is shaped by active tectonic movements. There are many lateral and reverse faults in the field. Although the study area is located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, contrary to the general climate character of the region in terms of climate, it falls into the semi-humid climate group due to temperature and precipitation values. Due to the humid climate character, a rich variety of vegetation has occurred on the site. Bushes and weed formations are more common when forest areas are destroyed by anthropogenic effects. Depending on the climatic conditions, dolins uvala and poljes, which are among the karst erosion patterns, have also been formed in the field. As other geomorphological units in the study area, there are also mountain ranges, plateaus, plains and kuesta of structural shapes. Since the study area formed the passive northern edge of the Arabian continent during the Paleozoic era, it has become a field where shallow seas are sometimes dominated by terrestrial environments. The Anatolid-Torid blocks, which started to separate from the late Triassia in late direction due to the tectonic regime of opening from the continent of Gondwana throughout the Mesozoic, caused the study area to be oceanic during this period. From the Late Cretaceous to the Middle Miocene, it was a circuit where the layers forming the geomorphological structure of the area were slightly curved by Alpine Orogeny and the oceanic conditions turned into shallow marine conditions, and the area became blackened by the Middle Miocene.As a result of the collision of the Arab Plate with the Torids in the north from the Middle Miocene to the present day, the northern parts of the study area have risen orogenically and have taken its present morphological appearance due to faults.
