Abstract (EN)

In this research, the effects of migration from Gürün(Sivas) town on the residents are analyzed in terms of socio-cultural structure and life. The effects of out migration have on Gürün town and its residents? economic, social, cultural and political structure and adaptation are being discussed.The existing statistical data and the results obtained from the survey constitute the basic source of the study. The field study was done in the form of survey which consist 39 questions and applied face to face by the researcher. The sample is comprised 150 household members of Gürün from different age groups and male-female ratio is kept 50%.The results of the study show that the economical structure of the town is primarily affected by the migration from Gürün. The economical structure of the town has regressed more by the out migration. Means of living has changed as the qualified out migrants increased. The cultural structure is also affected in a way that the old traditions seem to be still valid but are not applied by the majority of young generation. Although the data is not sufficient to justify the changes in political tendencies solely by out migration, but still it has an impact on it. Parallel to the years of intensive migration, political tendencies has presented changes in Gürün. The out migration of qualified people has caused drop in the educational status of the town. The present study shows that migration from Gürün has caused regression in the town by all means.
