Abstract (EN)
Cancer has become a global threat to humanity. According to cancer data, around 14.1 million new cancer cases and 8.2 million deaths from cancer occurred in 2012 (Torre et al., 2015). Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer known and seen in women, and it is the most common cancer death in all societies, especially in developed western countries (Demirci, 1995). The biologically active compounds of plant origin are called phytochemicals. It provides a protective effect against cancer by holding oxidant radicals, activating detoxification enzymes and stimulating the immune system. Bioactive substances obtained from various parts of plants have been studied in research on cancer. The effects of these substances are supported by epidemiological data. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown that Ginseng affects many steps by stimulating apoptosis in cancer cells and stopping the cell cycle (Din et al., 2012; Lee, Kang and Kim, 2019). In this study, the time and dose dependent effects of Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) on MDA-MB-231 cell lines were examined and evaluated. In our current study, Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) extract was compared with doses of 1mg/ml and 2mg/ml and over two times as 24, 48 hours. In addition, it was observed that the group that stopped the cell cycle in the G0/G1 phase was the group with 1mg/ml for 48 hours. This shows that it will stop the proliferation of cancer cells.
