Abstract (EN)
The opera one of Rossini's masterpieces, was first performed in 1814 and was composed in the opera buffa (comic opera) genre. The work skillfully combines dramatic and comic elements, and the characters of the work reflect these elements with the same richness. When the character of Fiorilla is analyzed in terms of voice, the melodic structure that Rossini attributed to the role consists of parts that require a wide vocal range and virtuosity. Fiorilla's arias and ensemble parts, with their agile passages, ornamentation and long legato phrases, are characteristic of Rossini's style, which is also evident in his other operas. Fiorilla is portrayed as an independent and self-confident woman at the center of a story full of love and intrigue. While at the beginning of the opera she is a lively, flirtatious, freedom-loving character who is able to manipulate the men around her, her transformation into a mature and responsible woman shows her character change in the opera. In this respect, it is a key role that determines the humorous and ironic tone of the work. Rossini's music reflects Fiorilla's emotional and dramatic ups and downs, emphasizing the multidimensional nature of the character. While Fiorilla's vocal part exhibits the subtleties of the "bel canto" style of the period, the dramatic structure of the character reflects the comedic understanding and social criticism of the "opera buffa" genre. This study aims to analyze the character of Fiorilla in Gioachino Rossini's opera "A Turk in Italy" in a rich framework, both dramatically and vocally, and to provide a comprehensive source for a better understanding of this character's leading role in the opera and Rossini's musical genius.
