Angel investment on entrepreneurship financing: An analysis of Turkey

Many entrepreneurs and companies need financing to put their opinions into practice. Primarily, new entrepreneurs apply to finance their financing needs with traditional methods. We encounter angel investment as an alternative financing method to traditional methods. The method was applied for a long time in the world, was brought in literature by english Professor William Wetzel from New Hampshire University in 1981 This financing method that many etreprenuers and investors are not aware in Turkey, generally promotes entreprenuerships that have high risk and early initiative growth potential. Regulations about angel investment in Turkey were in progress with "Regulation on Individual Participation Capital" on 15'th February, in 2013 Angel investors providing that some conditions are promoted to invest with assuring tax advantages. Angel investment financing model has made contribution to employment, economic growth and development while it suplies needs of entreprenuers. Govermental incentives and tax advantages with angel investment financing model have contirubuted to develop financing source of entreprenuers in Turkey. In this analysis, it is explained entreprenuership, angel investment financing model as an alternative of entreprenuership and made proposals by analyzing the situation of angel investment model in Turkey and the World.
